Celeb BB 2011 - Big Brother's Big Beard Speaks Out

We thought it had left our TV screens for good, but Channel 5 gave Big Brother an early resurrection and critics were standing close by, ready to slate the new format.

Celebrity Big Brother 2011 launched this week and almost six million viewers tuned in at the highest peak. A glamorous new set in London and the Ultimate Big Brother housemate Brian Dowling ensured CBB got off to an excellent start. The house is amazing and the mixture of housemates will make for compulsive viewing for around two million people each evening.

While Big Brother's Little Brother (BBLB) and Big Brother's Big Mouth are no longer with us, Channel 5 have been wise enough to introduce Emma Willis as the host of Big Brother's Bit On The Side. With former Big Brother housemates and it's own unique style, the programme follows on from where BBBM left off.

Channel 5 may find it hard to match the success of Channel 4 with Big Brother, but by the hairs of my chinney chin chin, I'm well impressed!

BB11: Big Brother's Big Beard Speaks Out!

Day 74: The beard is NOT happy and after being silent for 74 days it is time to speak out! Big Brother 11 has been an excellent end to the reality format but sadly we are going to be left with the DULLEST Big Brother EVER.
The public have voted out all the wrong people this week and left in the most bland, boring bunch of housemates since BB4. Of course I wanted John James to be evicted after his actions in recent days and I'm sure Sam Pepper wound up most of the viewers but............. both characters were entertaining.
We now have a final where only one person is in contention to win BB11, and the beard says that makes the final very boring! Yes, Josie is a great housemate but it would have been better if Sam Pepper was there to wind her up or Corin to add her hilarious ways. Even a sulking John James would be more entertaining than Mario, Andrew, JJ and Dave.
I have no-one to blame but myself, I've not voted during BB11 and at the end of the day the line up is partly my fault for not making a phone call. Do I give a ripp? Yes! Am I buzzin'? No! Thankfully we have Ultimate Big Brother as a fitting end too Big Brother, otherwise I'd have switched off my TV and said goodbye BB11 now.

CBB7: Big Brother's Big Beard Speaks Out

As we enter the final few days of Celebrity Big Brother 7, my Big Beard can't help but declare it's love for the reality programme. This time last year we all seemed to have had enough of the Big Brother format - I have to admit, my Big Beard had lost interest last year.

Yet CBB7 has proved that Celebrity Big Brother still has plenty of steam as around 3 million have tuned in each night. CBB goes on just long enough to keep us glued to our TV's (take note BB11 - 90+ days in the house is much too long!).

The celebrity housemates this series have been fascinating to watch, even the non-celeb types have proved fun. But the real attraction this series has been Big Brother itself, added to this we have had the Tree of Temptation spicing things up. Davina McCall proved the format works and even the official website has been better than ever, with constant Twitter updates and selective snippets ensuring we all tune back in each night.

Is this really the end of Celebrity Big Brother? Let's hope CBB returns to our screens in the very near future. Mark my bearded words, the public WANT Celebrity Big Brother to continue!

CBB7: Day 4 - Big Brother's Big Beard Speaks Out

It's just a matter of time before the Celebrity Big Brother housemates explode in anger. We're already seeing cracks appear in the fragile friendships formed four days ago.

Stephen Baldwin is already winding up EVERY housemate with his Bible talk and opinions, while Stephanie Beacham is slowly getting more and more repulsed by the Big Brother experience. Meanwhile Alex Reid is managing to piss off a few of the CBB7 housemates and Heidi Fleiss is slowly simmering away like a pressure cooker waiting to explode.

It's not all bad news though - as Basshunter Jonas and Ronnie Wood's ex-girlfriend Katia seem to have hit it off so well. Maybe she can give him a hand with his addiction...........

Big Brothers Big Beard Speaks Out: CBB7 - Day 2

We're just 24 hours into the final Celebrity Big Brother house and already opinions are shifting on the initial first impressions. Seeing the eleven housemates enter the CBB7 house led many people to wonder who the celebs actually were.

From Nicola T to Katia Ivanova it was a bit odd but hey - we had religious Stephen Baldwin with his scary eyes and legend Vinnie Jones so it all balanced out. We'd have loved a fight between Alex Reid and Dane Bowers but instead it looked like they were real friends............ until Dane went into the Diary Room today and confessed all was not as it seems. It turns out the press reports were semi true and the pair had been involved in a bit of a scrap. Big Beard wants them to fight for real in the house.

The ladies (and some lads) will be quite happy if either Alex or Basshunter Jonas get their tops off during CBB7, while lads (and some lasses) will be happy if Nicola T or Katia go topless. I'm sure 'all will be revealed' over the coming days. Meanwhile Day 2 gives the housemates an opportunity to get to know each other and it gives us viewers a chance to change our opinions.

Now we can get to know the celebs as they interact, rather than just the press stories we've read over the past few days. Will Vinnie Jones still be the bookies favourite this time next week? Maybe Heidi Fleiss will go up in your opinion? Stay tuned for a roller coater of a ride that is Big Brother.........

Big Brother's Big Beard Speaks Out

Maybe it's just me but I can't help but feel this year's Big Brother housemates are boring. I've tried really hard to like them and no matter how hard I try, my BB addiction has failed this year.

The biggest factor for my lack of addiction is because of Channel 4 - they gave us less Big Brother so what do you expect? No more live feed meant I only watch BBLB or the main BB10 show on C4. Then no Big Mouth on E4 Mon-Thurs meant I could just go to bed
and switch off from the BB house. In fact so many viewers have switched off or never bothered to tune in.

The official Big Brother website has hardly been the best this year and other websites have lacked info due to the live feed being cut. We are left with a series that goes on way too long and viewers forced to a limited view of Big Brother. This week is crucial for the series - can the 10 year celebrations ignite viewers once again or is this series doomed to failure?

BB10: Day 17 - The End Of A Relationship

Big Brother's Big Beard speaks out about the relationship between Cairon and Siavash and looks beneath the surface to find out why this was a relationship not based on sex but on real bonds.

The picture above speaks volumes - it shows two very different reactions to the news of Cairon's eviction, it was the end of the first real 'relationship' in the Big Brother 10 house and it doesn't involve Dogface or Kris! This was a relationship between Cairon and Siavash that existed because they were on the same level with each other, a friendship based on respect for each other. Although the pair spent vast amounts of time together, doing things that on the outside world neither of them would have done and it wasn't gay -it was cool.

Cairon's face shows the disappointment at having just been told he was to be evicted from BB10 after just 16 days and then in the background, Siavash expresses his real sadness at losing the closest friend in the house.

Many comments have been made about Cairon's attitude or immaturity, yet this 18 year-old actually proved himself mature in many situations and handled himself well as a teenager placed in such a challenging environment.

Cairon and Siavash added fun into the house as they entertained each other and the viewers, their relationship lifted each of them as they found their place in the BB10 house. It also gave us a bit of insight into both characters. They could joke, poke fun, dress up, undress and paint each others bottom - all without a homosexual undertone. This was a relationship of the purest kind, not born out of a desire to be on camera -it was based on survival together in the Big Brother environment.

Cairon will be missed from the BB10 house...............

BB10: Big Brother's Big Beard Speaks Out!

Here is what Big Brother's Big Beard has to say about the BB10 housemates:

"At first I thought I wasn't going to get hooked on BB10 when I saw the 16 non-housemates enter the house, but as the week went on I couldn't help myself. Something draws me to the characters and before I know it, I find myself reading, watching and blogging 24/7.

With Sophia's resounding eviction vote on Friday, I fear we could end up voting out all the interesting fire brand housemates and ending up with the safe yet dull housemates. Remember last year how we ended up with the oh so boring, yet oh so 'nice' Rachel Rice - and she went on to win the damn competition?! Marcus, Lisa and Cairon are three of the characters that stand out because they speak their mind and refuse to hold back but it will be people like Rodrigo, Sree and Noirin who will sail through to the final days because they avoid controversy. Will the public never learn?

Watching the arguments as the Big Brother housemates clash, makes far greater viewing than a happy "I love everyone" house. So if BB10 should become boring to you - remember it could be because you voted out the fiery housemates first and all you are left with are the damp bits of wood."

BB9: Big Beard's Final Thoughts

"It's all over for another year and I already have Big Brother withdrawal symptoms. I find myself looking at the TV guide hoping to find another BB9 programme to watch, but alas I have to settle for the fact Big Brother has finished for 2008.

Not bad considering I was not going to watch any of it, instead I accidentally got hooked as I flicked channels and saw the housemates after they had entered the BB house. Finding out Rebecca was from my home city Coventry meant I was instantly hooked.

Soon my days were filled with hours of Big Brother viewing and blogging and 93 days of distraction as the British summer became another washout. Thankfully the 21 housemates provided me with enough entertainment to keep me loyal for the duration. Even though we voted out the more controversial characters and the "happy house" crew lasted until the final week, it was worth watching.

Viewers also remained pretty much loyal, in an ever changing electronic world viewers were able to watch on Channel 4, or an hour later on C4+1. Then E4 and E4+1 allowed us to see even more of the housemates as well as the official website www.channel4.com/bigbrother, treating us to exclusive videos and stories.

I was like an addict on crack, getting my daily dose of Big Brother - spending hours reading, watching and uploading to Big Brother Blog Squad. Readers would come back and vote on the various polls and would pick who would be evicted next quite successfully. I had to battle with Google, who twice removed BBBS from it's listings as they tried to drive me out of existence - but the site continued even if people couldn't find it through Google.

Big Brother 9 also survived the stories of demise and falling viewing figures as the producers came up with excellent twists and turns, alongside tasks that would test the housemates to the limits. Relationships were strained and broken, mended and created - it was a roller coaster ride where housemates experienced the highs and lows of living in a gold fish bowl for our entertainment.

I'm going to miss the housemates - all of them, because each of the 21 housemates brought something unique to the Big Brother house. They were all special and remind us we all have flaws and all have abilities. Some excelled and some disappointed but all of them gave us hours of voyeuristic entertainment. Big Brother may be over, but thankfully it will be back again next year - hopefully not quite as long............"

BB9: Big Brother's Big Beard - Lisa Next To Go?

Big Brother's Big Beard Speaks Out:

"It's day 61 and nomination day but instead of getting harder for the housemates, it seems for the 'Happy House' crew nominating will be easy. Lisa and Dale will continue to be the target for Kat, Rachel and a paranoid Darnell. Stuart wants to be nominated but will his fellow housemates pick up on his vibe?"

"We could end up with Rachel, Kathreya, Darnell and Mohamed as the final four if the voting patterns continue to follow the previous weeks. Personalities have gone - we lost Luke on Friday and Rebecca last week, two housemates that made you want to watch Big Brother. Thankfully Big Brother know how to twist things inside the house and the series is still addictive - even without the big characters. The 'Letters from Home' Task has kept me glued to the TV and Internet."

"BB9 has been fantastic throughout and is up there with the best series. Lisa's breakout on Friday night was the icing on the cake - at times she's barking mad yet she says the funniest things. A prime example of why we watch Big Brother night after night. We are voyeurs with an evil streak. We'll keep Mohamed in the house just to piss off the others, we spared Stuart because we know he wanted out and we evicted Luke because we knew he wanted to win."

"I would be gutted if Lisa was evicted next Friday as she is totally enjoying the experience, wouldn't it be just pure evil if Rex ended up being evicted - leaving Nicole in the house on her own ............. now that's a thought!"

BB9: Big Brothers Big Beard Speaks Out!

Big Brothers Big Mouth Speaks Out:

"Rebecca has been evicted from the Big Brother house and now the questions are being asked, 'How will the remaining housemates entertain us?' 'Will viewers switch off now the biggest character has gone?'. It seems that the voting public never learns, first they vote all the women out then they vote all the interesting characters out of the house."

"BB9 stands at an important crossroads, if Big Brother bosses fail to ignite the remaining housemates - viewers will switch off. Who wants to watch a bunch of 'nice' people being nice to each other 24/7? We are sadists and like them to bicker and bitch as well as have a romance so we can split them up later. That is the nature of the beast. With Rebecca gone, her friends inside the Big Brother house will be feeling venerable. Luke, Dale and Stuart will be easy targets for the picking who might find it hard to survive a public vote against Maysoon, Rachel or Kathreya. Simply because the public will vote out anyone who has something to say."

"Rex and Dale were correct when they told Maysoon she was indecisive and dull. People that avoid any confrontation or express opinion go undetected and the danger can be we'll end up with a Big Brother house that gets along lovely but is as dull as f**k to watch! It's time the public woke up and started voting tactically instead of on personality."

BB9: Day 49 - Big Brothers Big Beard Speaks Out!

Big Brothers Big Beard Speaks Out:

It's going to be an interesting eviction on Friday, could Mohamed and Darnell split the vote and force Rebecca out by default? If it had only been one on one, then the choice would have been easier but three housemates up for the public vote adds a twist.

Darnell and Mohamed act as a team so their supporters might unite to vote Rebecca out of the house and already Darnell has put his game plan into play. Lying to Rex saying he voted for him so that he would go to the Big Brother Jail was a dirty trick. Knowing he would avoid the task and yet get the sympathy from housemates like Kat is a low stunt. But will the public forget his bad temper so quickly? This weeks eviction could be the closest yet and still be a total surprise.

The biggest danger BB9 faces is being lumbered with a house filled with quiet, 'nice' people who get on wonderfully. Viewers love a good argument and this weeks vote is about that - Which housemate can the Big Brother house do without? Who is needed least? Time to vote now!

BB9: Big Brother's Big Beard Speaks Out!

Big Brother's Big Bread Speaks Out (again!):

"It's Day 37 in the BB9 house and a whole week since Jennifer was evicted with Mario or Rebecca facing the boot tonight. It's amazing how quickly the house dynamics can change, with Jen gone the group was finally destroyed. A sad Dale soon recovered and a crying Stuart found new bonds in the Basic Bedroom as focus turned from groups to rooms.

Darnell and Luke are now going head to head as room leaders as the housemates focus more on which room they are in. Belinda's snoring is guilty of creating the "room wars", with the Basic Bedroom refusing to house her. Darnell refused to be told by the Luxury Bedroom to have Belinda - and this is the crux of future arguments. The "them and us" complexity will kick in this week and help create a few heated debates.

Hard to believe that a week ago Rex hardly had any friends in the BB9 house, but as soon as Sara and Maysoon came in and Rex survived the public vote - his popularity rocketed in the house. Who would have thought Dale would be sitting with him chatting like best friends, when days before he had been caught by Rex talking about him saying he spoke with "his cock out". Mo and Rex have benefited with the arrival of the new housemates. Belinda has become the new housemate that has been marginalised, maybe Mario and Lisa should have taken her under their wing and won over a new friend.

Luke and Rebecca have become more cut off following the nominations, but found comfort in Mario and Lisa - but it was a dangerous place to be as they will make it easier for the other housemates to nominate them as they become outsiders. Rachel and Kathreya made a very wise move by going over to B-Block to sleep instead of the Luxury Bedroom. The move will spare them from nomination next week as Lisa looks more vulnerable if Mario is evicted tonight.

Mario may have burnt his bridges by upsetting several housemates this week and the argument with Lisa may have cost him a place in the BB9 house. My beard would prefer to see Rebecca stay in the BB9 house, not only because she is from my beloved Coventry but because is the the better out of the two. It would be a sad night for Luke next Wednesday if Rebecca was not there for his birthday.

Big Brother's Big Beard thinks that Darnell will be the housemate to watch in the coming week, he is a ticking bomb waiting to explode and a week of rations might just push relationships over the edge."

BB9: Big Brother's Big Beard Speaks Out

Big Brother's Big Beard Speaks Out:

"Groups are forming in the BB9 house with Sylvia orchestrating
one group, being joined by Dennis, Jennifer, Dale, Rex and Rebecca. Another
group consists of Mario, Lisa and Michael with floaters Mohamed and Luke.
Darnell, Kathreya and Rachel are the three housemates that refuse to be locked
into a group. Stuart is likely to side with Sylvia's group, forming the dominant
players in the house.

The group dynamics spell danger for Michael and Mohamed in the
nominations on Monday after Sylvia (as the dominant female) caused friction, and
swayed her group away from Mohamed and Michael. This should mean she will escape
nomination but opinions change quickly in the BB9 house and the weekend will
bring plenty of new gossip to change housemates views.

While Sylvia uses her friendships in the house to spread
gossip and sway opinions, Luke has managed to flit between all the housemates
without causing friction as he blends his quirky personality with fact finding.
The best 'romance' in the house has to be between Luke and Rebecca, they don't
need a room when they get out of the BB house - they need their own TV
show!"

Big Brothers Big Beard Speaks Out!

Big Brothers Big Beard Speaks Out:

"It's only been two weeks since the 16 housemates first entered the BB9 house yet it's been drama all the way. Alexandra became the most unpopular housemate EVER, Mario the most deluded (with his millions of fans!) and Dennis bitch fight back fired, almost earning him the public vote this week.

Kathreya is every one's favourite to win, but I'd like to see Luke win instead. When he first entered the BB house I thought he might be really opinionated but Luke has been the star of BB9, making great viewing every time he is in the Diary Room. Kat seems to be trying too hard, I'll be sick of "Cookie Power" by Day 60, Luke just comes out with one gem after another.

Rachel is such a lovely housemate, although I doubt she can win - she deserves to be in the BB9 house until the end. Another housemate that has changed for the better in my opinion is Rebecca, at first she appeared to be so loud but with each passing day Bex makes me laugh more and more. I'd love the final to be between Luke and Rebecca - what a great final that would make.

Mohamed, Michael and Darnell have all failed to impress me, a bit weak and need to develop some balls and become more assertive. At least Rex speaks his mind and has proved he is not afraid of conflict - Dennis should take a few tips, as his house meeting recently failed to light the fireworks. Sylvia is still a snake in the grass, even with Alexandra out of the way she is playing the game and I'm sure she is playing housemates against each other.

Dale and Jennifer just bore the pants off me with their on/off "romance", neither of them have any substance and only their good looks might save them from the public vote in the coming weeks. It's only a matter of time before Mario gets voted out of the BB9 house - but it wouldn't surprise me if housemates spare him next week, fearing his perceived popularity outside the house.

Lisa will survive with Mario and will still have Michael as support, but will interact more easily with the remaining housemates than Mario would. Michael will have to face the public vote one day - it will be hard to decide when he must go. This week he seems to have gone into his shell more, we need to see the more lively Micky if he stands any chance of surviving.

Best task so far has been the Buzzer Task - shocking but oh so very very funny!"

- Big Brothers Big Beard has spoken.
